Strategic marketing also referred to as marketing management or marketing strategies and plans is a  major cause taught at both undergraduate and masters level. the course entails Understanding marketing management: Core concepts of marketing and marketing management; Overview of strategic management: key terms in strategic management, strategic planning; The nature of strategic marketing planning; Marketing research and information systems; Analyzing consumer and organizational buyers; Analyzing the strategic situation and competition; Market segmentation, targeting and positioning; Managing the marketing mix: Price, Place, Promotion, and Product; Implementation, evaluation and control of marketing program. the course further looks into Analyzing marketing situations: market definition, segmentation, valuation and positioning, assessing market potential, detailed approaches to market analysis, models of customer decision making , estimating the lifetime value of a customer, product, brand offerings and pricing;  marketing, distribution strategies and decisions: the marketing decision process, marketing decision process , product line management, marketing plans in the context of longer-term strategies, products and brands among others.
