Basic Computer Network course is the foundation of all the computer network related courses in Information Technology Department of Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana Sumba. The Course cover a range of topic related to how the computer network is works. The first topic is about data communication, how data can be transmitted from one place to another. After that participant will learn about Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Model that provide the reference model how to organize and understanding the computer network. Using this OSI layers every week’s participant will learn more details about the layers started with physical, data link, network, transport, session, presentation, and application layers. Every week participant will try to understand transmission media and many network interface card used in network devices, how the data formatted before transmitted, how network devices decided which physical path used to transfer the data, which protocol will be used to transmits data, how the network devices maintains connection, how the network devices ensures the data is readable, and how the data can be seen by the users.
