This course will explore an economic perspective distinct from the Neo-Classical perspective, which remains the mainstream approach in the field of economics. The institutional economics perspective emphasizes the significance of formal institutions and informal institutions which embedded in the daily lives of societies. After gaining an understanding the focus of the institutional economics perspective, students will study theories based on its school of thoughts. The course will also cover institutional analytical tools to comprehend institutional design and develop solutions for issues related to development economics, particularly public policies. Students will be required to conduct public policy analysis in groups using the Institutional Analysis and Development (IAD) Framework.
