The Course SW 575 A- Disaster Management & Social Work at Master of Arts in Social Studies is to provide knowledge on various types of natural & manmade disasters & its impacts, hazard & vulnerability analysis,  national & international policies & structure for disaster management, disaster management cycle, development/disaster nexus, social worker's role, & public awareness & education. The objective of this course is to provide a formal methodology of imparting public awareness and education to graduate students to understand and prepare for future disasters. SW 575 A is a 3(Three) credit hour course covering various pertinent aspects of disaster management. Reading materials will be provided to the student for each lesson at least one week prior to the scheduled date of the class. Students are expected to read the given materials & come prepared for the class. Class will be based on discussion & for some topics, students will be required to lead the discussion. Faculty will guide the discussions only. For some topics, professional experts will be invited to deliver the subject matter. Therefore, the core of the teaching module is faculty directed & maximum student participation. For this to materialize, student will have to come fully prepared for the class.
