Syllabus

This course provides concept and knowledge of structural analysis with the emphasis of statically determinate structure. By the end of this course, it is expected that the students will be able to compute displacements by real work, virtual work methods, as well as deflection of beams using Double Integration Method, Moment Area method, Macaulay’s method, and Conjugate beam method. Further, the course deals with constructing Influence Line Diagrams (ILDs) and using them to determine support reactions, bending moments and shear forces due to different loadings such as point load, distributed loads and a train of loads.  The students will also acquire foundational knowledge in the analysis of statically determinate, three-hinged arches and suspension cable systems.
