The goal of this course is to introduce the science of social psychology and the ways in which social psychologists approach the study of thought and behavior. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to the scientific methods used by social psychologists and how they formulate and test their ideas about social behavior and social issues. Students will be exposed to the body of knowledge, research findings and underlying principles that exist in the field. The course will explore how individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. The course will cover topics such as the self-concept, attitudes, persuasion, conformity, prejudice, aggression, helping behavior and interpersonal relationships. At the end of the term, students are expected to conduct a social experiment on any topic related to the course. Beyond theoretical exploration, this final output permit students to formulate and execute their own research, allowing them to gain more insights of how individuals think about, affect, and relate to one another in real-world setting.
