The Electrical Safety course for Power Engineers provides comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of electrical safety, as well as the requirements of various and international standards. During the course, students can master methods for identifying electrical hazards, implementing safe work procedures in electrical and power installations, and complying with regulatory requirements. The program covers topics such as preventing electric shock to personnel (maintenance personnel), grounding (electrical installations) and equipotential bonding, personal protective equipment for technical personnel, lockout/tagout procedures, and the safe operation of electrical equipment in all operating modes. Particular attention is paid to assessing life-threatening risks, responding to emergency situations, and preventing accidents in industrial settings and electrical laboratories.Theoretical classes and practical exercises can equip students with the skills to safely design electrical connection diagrams, operate, and maintain electrical networks and systems. This course (Electrical Safety for Power Engineers) emphasizes both the personal responsibility of electrical engineers and the safety culture of power organizations, preparing engineers to minimize risks and comply with occupational safety requirements. Upon completion, students will be able to apply best electrical safety practices, protect personnel (themselves) and equipment, and contribute to a safe work environment.
