Multimodality in Literary Text presents how language, power, and ideology are negotiated in written, verbal and visual texts from many kinds of literary works, such as novels, short story, poetry, poems, songs, movie, and even printed to digital media and/or social networking sites. Presenting a systematic toolkit of theories, concepts, and techniques for doing language and image analysis, students learn how to dig deep into discourses and literary landscape. This course offers case studies and examples from traditional and new literary works as well as from media content. This course equips students to understand the relationship between language, discourse, and the visible and invisible meaning of the content. This understanding equips students to apply the knowledge when they create their own literary works or media contents.
