This course introduces students to the fundamentals of organizational communication. It focuses on business writing techniques; practical applications and uses in a variety of business environments. Other areas include business etiquette; ethics of business writing; audience analysis; the three steps of the writing process; different types of writing; language, (grammar, spelling, punctuation); paragraphing; common errors in business writing; business research methods; career search and development of job search plans. For application, it uses: different types of letters, emails, memos, CVS, reports, minutes, proposals; job applications and interviews. Students will also be required to examine and discuss the theoretical underpinnings of business communication.
